Multi disc clutch kit stages; finding the kit you need.

If you are familiar with our ACT products, you probably know we do not use ‘’stages’’ to name after a product category. As a stage 1 for one person can be easily assimilate to a stage 3 to another and so on. We strongly believe that the data provided with our products are the best way for you to find the part you need. Hence you will find for every type available the torque capacity at the crank. This is the most important information you need when looking for a clutch.

Second thing you need to determine your driving needs. We will never recommend to use our race kit with Maxx Pressure plate and race disc, despite the kit being solid enough to handle the torque your engine makes, this will not match the way you want to use your car. Are you going to drive the car on the street mainly? Then you should definitely go for our most popular heavy duty pressure plate combined with our organic spring centered disc. For race, we offer Heavy Duty, Xtreme and Maxx Extreme kits with 6 pucks ceramic discs.

The main difference between spring centered and solid hub discs:
The spring centered kits are designed to reduce the torsional vibration. This problem is common on those cars and end up damaging the splines on the hubs. With springs you will extend the life of the splines and shifting operation will be quitter and smoother.
The solid or rigid hub design are mainly design for races, even though this is still manageable on the street we do not recommend this setup if you are not going around the track. With faster shifting, lower inertia and better throttle response your racing experience will be highly improved. On the down side, you will have more chance to face spline wear and gear noise.
